What's the Best Audio Editing Software for Newbies?
Hi guys! I'm really new to editing and I'm planning to record and edit our class greetings (audio only) which we will compile and send to our class advisor on her Birthday 2 weeks from now. We'd like to surprise her. Any ideas on where to best edit this? like what software? I want to put some background music too. Thanks!

Are you looking for something free? Audacity might just be the way to go.

Thank you for Audacity.
But without thinking into consideration if it's free or not (I can always find a crack/serial in torrent, lol), what would be your best suggestion for me?

I think you'll be hard pressed to find someone here that will support illegal software use. I would ramp up on Audacity to get the basics down or download a trial of something else.
