Suggestions - Let Me Have Them!

Post by MikeQuell » June 7th, 2013, 12:50 pm

So obviously this is a new forum and it's going to need to have things moved around, added to, and adjusted. Any suggestions on what you would like to see here let me know. An example could be that you would like a new forum category that doesn't fit into the others. Lets hear it!

Thanks,

Mike

One thing I would like suggestions on are post ranking titles. Here are what we currently have:

0 < "Newbie"
1 ≥ "Critical Listener"
10 ≥ "Regular"
25 ≥ "Sound Monkey"
50 ≥ "Audio Specialist"
100 ≥ "Audio Guru"

What would you like to have as a tagline for each specific rank?

Hmm.. some may find "sound monkey" demeaning to monkeys. How about we move up "Critical Listener" and "Regular" and add "Intern" after "Newbie"? ;)

re: the emerging Sound Monkey controversy. I'd be very careful about the witty rankings. I'm pretty laid back, so it's not a big deal to me, but I can't tell you how many new members over at the Tape Op messageboard get really ticked off that they start off as an "ass engineer."

That said, for taglines:

0 < "Newbie" - practicing over/under cable wraps 3 hrs/day
1 ≥ "Critical Listener" - knows male XLR from female without Googling

50 ≥ "Audio Specialist" - can see subframe sync drift

...is all I got right now. I'm kinda tired...

Hah, thanks guys. I agree on "sound monkey". It's usually referred to as a negative term and we shouldn't use it. I dig your suggestions, Derrick. I changed it over to those for now.

Thanks,

Mike

So the site has been active for a few months now and our userbase is slowly climbing. We have over 400 members now!

I wanted to ping the community and see they would like to see more of from these forums. Is there a particular forum topic that you would like to see added to the front page? Or maybe a widget of some sort on the sidebar? Let me know.

Personally, I would really like to get the functionality of having social networks (Facebook, Twitter) integrated but given the time I have to work on the site along with my knowledge of web development, I'm not sure if it's feasible.

You feedback is welcome!

-Mike
