Man of Steel sound (probably spoilers)
How did everybody feel about the sound design of Man of Steel? I particularly liked the sound of the World Engine/terraforming device. Some very cool work there.

Re: Man of Steel sound (probably spoilers)
Man of Steel had some really great sound. I loved the take off and sonic boom explosions. The terraforming device was really powerful sounding. There was a tone in it that reminded me of some of the electrical sounds Ben Burtt used in Raiders. I thought that maybe even it was an old BB sound employed in the terraforming shot.
Here is the sound I was reminded of:

at 40:41 you hear an electrical zap. Could be a synth?
Other than that, the destruction was handled well as was the fight material . Everything read with superhuman power and strength.

Yea, that world engine sounded great! Really loved the energy of it. I thought a lot of the ships sounded really great too.
It would be incredibly neat to try and get some of the designers onto these forums to talk about what they did. It was a really fun film!

One of them popped up on Reddit a week or so ago. If I can find the thread I'll see if there's a way to contact the guy.

I'm quite sure that in the sequence with the Matrix-style metal snake things (as they're technically known I'm sure!), there's a point where one of them latches on to something (maybe Supes himself, can't recall) and we hear some of Jean-Edward Miclot's work from his Transform library. I hope so as it's really good work!

Re: Man of Steel sound (probably spoilers)
I just went to a recent LA Sound Group meetup where Eric Norris talked to us about the sound for the film. I believe he did say he used some of that Twitsted Tools library! He didn't say specifically if it was for that scene or not though. He just mentioned that he thought it had some really great stuff.leebanyard wrote:I'm quite sure that in the sequence with the Matrix-style metal snake things (as they're technically known I'm sure!), there's a point where one of them latches on to something (maybe Supes himself, can't recall) and we hear some of Jean-Edward Miclot's work from his Transform library.
