Regarding Naming:
For me it would be important to know the Location, Season and Time of day.
Please consider including these elements in the Naming and/or metadata
GPS co-ords of the recording would be nice too I like to Google earth things like this.

Re: The "World Ambience SFX Library"
Yea, I can try and do that. I would suggest trying to capture what you think someone else would find unique. If there is a city ambience that has a unique sound to it (crosswalk chimes, sirens, horns) compared to other countries it's worth recording in my opinion. It's also worth noting that just because someone else is recording the same city, that doesn't mean it will sound the same. As a general rule, I think we should stay away from basic car bys and a wash of road noise. That's not very interesting and I'll call that out in the recording guidelines.glennjr wrote:Would it be possible to get a "soft list" of proposed recordings? I have an idea what I'd like to record, but if 50 others will be doing something similar--albeit in a different country--I would probably want to record something different. It would be "unfortunate" if 80% of us recorded traffic. A good mix of sounds would be more useful I think.
Or maybe it would be easier if everyone emailed you their proposed recording. If you see too many of one type of recording you can announce that that type of recording has reached its maximum.

Yea, I agree. That's very useful. I think we can squeeze the location and time of day into the filename and put the season in metadata.tristanhorton wrote:For me it would be important to know the Location, Season and Time of day.

I just found about these forums and this project, and it's very interesting. Sounds like fun!
So, I'm in. I can provide recordings from Serbia, and maybe from some other places - depending on the project duration.
