I'd love to see more 5.1 ambiances, maybe a future venture?

Same here! Let's get this one out the door and see how big the library gets. It's going to sit on an FTP somewhere once it's been cleaned up and ready to go so file size is a consideration.

Also, If things go well we can always revisit the ambient theme. I wanted to give this a go first though because most people don't have the ability to record ambiences in a surround format.

I'd like to join in. I'm on the south coast of England too, in Dorset. I can provide urban (town centre), beach front and sea, countryside and anymore I can think of, I'll do. I can do both daytime and nighttime recording, as I work shiftwork so I'm awake at both of those times :)

I like this idea a lot! I'll probably put it as a request - submit one day as well as one night recording but it isn't a requirement. We might end up getting a lot of crickets and cicadas though. :)

Would it be possible to get a "soft list" of proposed recordings? I have an idea what I'd like to record, but if 50 others will be doing something similar--albeit in a different country--I would probably want to record something different. It would be "unfortunate" if 80% of us recorded traffic. A good mix of sounds would be more useful I think.

Or maybe it would be easier if everyone emailed you their proposed recording. If you see too many of one type of recording you can announce that that type of recording has reached its maximum.
